Partnered with Opengeo Consultoria, Silicon has provided consulting services to Emprel - Empresa de Informática da Prefeitura de Recife (Informatics Company of Recife Municipal Government) evaluating the suitability of geoprocessing free software alternatives, to be used in the goverment geolocation initiatives.

As a result, an extensible research and test of different tools (JUMP, GeoServer, MapServer), standards (OGC) and API's (GeoTools) was produced, which also helped improve Silicon's staff knowledge of these technologies.
